    		Not necessarily an area for prostitution, as it pertains to US definitions. Except in Nevada, prostitution is illegal, but so-called red light districts have been established in various cities for the purpose of confining sanctioned 'adult entertainment' activities to a particular section of town.

    		During a visit to Amsterdam in my military days, we were told that while prostitution was legal, advertising prostitution wasn't, so a red light in a window or over a door was the local 'code' for a brothel.
