Why do babies cry when they are born?

they cry because all the time they are in the womb they are breathing fluid, during the miracle of birth this respiration system closes down and the air breathing one kicksin, the first breath of air is painful and hence the cry, Also as most delivery suites are lit up like a xmas party the lights are very painful after months in the dark. The whole process is very traumatic on babies ( and MumS and Dads) and they don't call it labour for fun. Mar 29 05, 1:20 AM

In the first minutes of his/her life, every human must do something to fill his/air lungs with air. Without air in the lungs, a baby will die quickly.
