    Is Minsk in Russia or in Belarus?

    		Minsk is the capital of Belarus.

    Belarus used to be known as the Belarussian Soviet Socialist Republic of the USSR, and then Byelorussia. It is also known as White Russia. Sovereignty was declared in July 1990, and independence in August 1991. Minsk is the capital, and largest city. Currency is the Belarussian ruble. That info came from Time Almanac, 2000.
