Would you want to give up the chance of taking hand luggage?

But how are you going to use it? Those doors aren't easy to open, and you'll probably have to fight the cabin staff to even try to open them. The windows are too small, and won't open anyway. And by the time you realise it's time to use it, and manage to get it out of the locker and struggle along the aisle, and stand in the doorway and put it on, and then try to open the door, it's going to be a bit late....

Provided it does not exceed the allowable size and weight, and complies with the airline's policy on what constitutes a weapon, then it could be carried as hand luggage. Individual airline policy varies, but in general hand luggage must not exceed a total dimension of 100 centimetres, ie 45 x 35 x 20 or equivalent, though this requirement is often ignored. as with other hand luggage, it would have to be kept beneath the seat in front or in the overhead locker, and you would certainly not be allowed to put it on, especially during an emergency situation.

I too can think of a hundred reasons why you couldn't usefully deploy such a parachute, but from the perspective of panicking other passengers I just wondered if any airline had expressly banned them.
