Have any birds ever been known to lay their eggs internally and if so, have the mother and chick(s) survived the ordeal?

I know sometimes their eggs get stuck. I don't know if any have survived... I would imagine the poor birds die a slow and painful death full of suffering.

Annoyingly, I can no longer find my source for the info.
I read that, if the oviduct becomes blocked, then the fat in the yolk, essential for the chick is poisonous to the mother who dies a painful death as a result.
