Pope Leo XI (born Alessandro de' Medici of Florence) was elected on April 1, 1605. He died on April 27. He has a rather nice tomb in St. Peter's. John Paul I reigned from the 26th of August, 1978, to September 29.

Pope Urban II (I think, or was it XII) died of Malaria just 12 days after being elected.

Then there was Stephen II, an 8th-century Pope who, according to my information lived just four days after his election. However, the source points out that he had not yet been consecrated. Perhaps he doesn't count.
P.S. to Arpeggionist: the 12-day Pope was Urban VII. He was elected -- and died -- in September of 1590. However, I hadn't heard that malaria was the cause of his death. Oh, that Roman fever.

Thanks for correcting my number. I knew it was Urban, just not which one. (Urban II called for the first Crusade, if I'm not mistaken, which is why I thought of him.)
