    What did Bessie Blount invent?

    Question #5644. Asked by steve.

    McGruff

Bessie Blount designed and made a device that served bites of food through a tube. By biting down on a mouthpiece, a patient could receive the next bite, totally eliminating the need to use hands or feet. Bessie, who by this time was both practicing and teaching physical therapy in New York, received a patent on her Portable Receptacle device on April 24, 1951 under the name Bessie Griffin. http://writetools.com/women/stories/blount_bessie.html
