Is there any functional difference in using the carbon copy ("cc") section and giving dual/multiple addresses in the "To" section while sending an e-mail?

Question #56580. Asked by achernar. (Apr 10 05 8:00 AM)

Yes. You may be directly addressing 1 or more people in the "TO" section. While the people you have addressed in the "CC" section are only receiving the email for their information.

If you are only sending the email to everyone for their information, then it probably wouldn't make any difference.

I understand that, but is there any technical difference in the ways web servers (both on the sender's and recepients' sides) interpret data in these two fields?

    That I don't know.

An important thing is NOT to use cc when sending funnies to people who may send them on. If they just send them on, they're sending your list of addresses with them, and you don't know whose hands they'll get into. Use Bcc which conceals the addresses from other people.
