I believe that Claudius brought some over, following his invasion, in about 60AD

Sorry for the delay in replying. Rick is right so yay to him. In 43 AD the Emperor 'Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus' (or Claudius for short), brough about 40 elephants to support his invasion of Britain. If that didn't make the Brits respect the Romans, nothing ever would!
