My cat has just performed one of her household duties. In doing so, she has reminded me of an old nick-name for citizens of Nebraska. What is this name, and why were they called that?

Question #56670. Asked by centerice. (Apr 14 05 9:48 PM)

Probably 'bug-eaters', as I can't imagine your cat has done any 'cornhusking'! 'Bug eater' came from the Nebraskan bats which were got the nickname because of the huge amount of insects they ate.

Yay, piquero. She hates corn, peas are her
    favorite.
