Which two related confectionary items that were launched in the 1960s but are still with us started out as tie-ins to the TV series "Fireball-XL5" and "Thunderbirds"?

Good grief. I have met only one person in North America who actually remembers "Fireball-XL5" as I do. I can't tell you what the product tie-ins were here in the States, but this site indicates that in England, Kellogg's Sugar Smacks and an ice cream company were associated with Gerry Anderson's shows. On the other hand, "confectionary" means "candy" to me, so I'm probably missing something.

This is one Brits are really more likely to get. That said, you are nearly there with the ice cream company.

I seem to remember a lolly in the shape of a rocket. Lyons Maid perhaps?

Oo we must be close to having the two names now.

What about the 'Zoom' lolly produced by Walls?

And the FAB lolly. More calories in them, though.

Yay to Maggie for the multi-flavour rocket-shaped lolly Zoom and the hundreds-and-thousands-coated FAB. They were both originally Lyons Maid but they sold the rights to Nestle in 1992 and I think there has been another change of ownership since then, so Walls might be right.
