Perhaps a bit more information? Goldman (1869-1940) immigrated to Chicago from Russia in her teens and was drawn to anarchism by the Haymarket riots of 1886. Over the next 20 years, she also became involved in union organization and family-planning issues. Also an assassination attempt. Deported back to Russia in 1919, she was at first excited, and then disillusioned, by the Revolution. She left Russia for Britain and both wrote and lectured on the negatives of Communism -- to no avail in some circles.
