    		Cartoon, perhaps? This term is used to describe designs for tapestries, for example by Raphael and Rubens.

    The cartoon, AKA the talim, is a full-sized paper drawing that is squared, with each square representing one knot of a particular colour. The weaver places the talim behind the loom and translates the design directly onto the carpet.
    The cartoon is used for mass production of a particular intricate design on the one rug.
