Question
#56748. centerice
asks:
As I was watching the cardinals enter the conclave, I noticed that some of them had chirons giving their names and where they were from. Some of the other cardinals were ignored, as the camera panned to the art in the chapel. Are the "ignored" cardinals less important or are they controversial?

In order to give more general interest to any news item, producers will select images from a number of cameras. If they showed each cardinal individually, and gave a mini biography of them most viewers would probably switch to another programme. Switching occasionally to other items such as artwork helps to keep viewer interest, which is what any TV producer is employed to do.

I might add that the coverage I saw tended to focus on Cardinals who are considered "papabili" -- the most likely candidates for Pope.

Thanks, you two.
I would have watched all the bios, but that's because I've never heard of any of them.
