What is common between a whale and a monkey: both have an external ear, both have a long balancing tail, both have body hairs throughout life, or both give birth to young ones?

Well, both give birth to young ones else there wouldn't be any of either.

Don't most creatures give birth to young ones in some form or another? Even inside an egg, there's a 'young one'!

And both tend to have long tails as well.... But the whales have rather more internalised ears than the monkeys. [You can find monkeys in the sea (proboscis monkeys in particular), but very few whales in the trees, and then usually by accident.]

I think he means both give birth to fully formed young , mammals !
