The artwork at this museum was once made put in a secret cabinet by the King at the time due to its genre. It was made briefly accessible in the mid sixties and re-opened only a few years ago. This artwork was, as historians have hinted, early forms of advertising. Where is this artwork, and what was interesting about the Basilica in the town that endorsed it?

You are referring to the erotic frescoes of Pompeii, which were locked away by King Francis I of Naples in the early 19th century. A graffito at the Basilica pointed out that the girls of Pompeii were "very friendly."

    I'll bet they were.

Yes indeedy. The frescoes are quite imaginative to say the least. Last I was romping about the Lupanare I believe there were many ladies getting their Kodak moment with the um, well endowed fella on display.

Makes poor ol' David in Firenze feel mighty inadequate I'm sure.
