Many of us at AFT like to bone up on various subjects but where does the expression "bone up" come from?

Question #56954. Asked by gmackematix. (Apr 28 05 7:32 PM)

    lanfranco

This is 19th-century American university slang, which may be derived from the popular classics translations of Henry Bohn (1796-1884).
