In the late 1950s how long did the fastest trains take on the London-Edinburgh run?

Not sure, though it took about 7 hours when I went in 1970, but I think the nub of the answer is it was likely to be quicker than now (and not the only example).

Thanks, Satguru. From memory (which is often unreliable) I think that in the late 1950s the "Elizabethan" did the 394 mile run non-stop in something like 7hrs 15mins.
