You are disqualified if you run on either side of you're lane markings. The excpetion is if you're forced by another competitor to shift out of your lane and no material advantage is gained on either the straight or the bend. The referee may disqualify you if you are pushed into an inner lane (on a bend) and you spend more time than needed running in the inner lane. Its more likely that the referee will disqualify the offender and re-run the race, or place you into another heat.
