Is the Star Wars character Yoda played by a very short person in a costume, or is he some sort of a puppet?

Yoda is a mechanical being, voiced by Frank Oz.

In the old films, he was definitely a puppet. Either hand operated or machine. In the new ones, he is probably digital animation, or some combination of digital and puppetry depending on the situation.
Frank Oz voiced the original Yoda, but I heard he died. Is it true or one of those celebrity rumors?

Jim Henson has unfortunately passed on, but Frank Oz is still very much alive.

Aaah. Thank you. :)
It's much better to keep the same voices when it's possible.

So Yoda and Miss Piggy are the same voice. Isn't life bizarre?
