Does smoking tobacco affect your "bad" cholesterol, and if so, how?

Just worry about the other effects of smoking tobacco before you get to cholesterol. If it has a good effect on cholesterol, the other bad effects outweigh this. If it has a bad effect, then it's just another nail in your coughin'..... May 19 05, 2:59 PM

Smoking is quite impressively unhealthy in most regards. Tobacco contains chemicals which narrow the arteries, some which increase blood pressure and others that damage the artery walls enabling cholesterol to attach to them. A smoker under 40 is up to five times more likely to have a heart attack than a non-smoker. In addition, cigarettes are a fire hazard, they greatly increase the chances of contracting emphysema, lung cancer, blindness and assorted other illnesses, they age the skin, reduce general fitness, cause abortions, impose smoke on others around, waste working time and are an addictive waste of money.
