    In 1983 George Brett became the final out of a baseball game despite having hit a home run. Why was he called out?

    		July 24, 1983...Down to their final out, George Brett rescues the Royals with a two-run home run that gave KC a 5-4 lead over the Yankees in the top of the 9th. But Yankee manager argues that Brett's pine tar was above the allowable 18 inches on the bat. The umpires agree, call Brett out, which ends the game and gives New York a 4-3 win. The Royals' protest is upheld, however, by league president Lee MacPhail. The home run counts again, and the teams resume the game on August 18. It took just 12 minutes for Hal McRae to strike out and Dan Quisenberry to retire the Yankees in order, as the Royals won, 5-4.
