asks:
When did it become standard practice to write Romanian in Roman characters (with diacritical signs) instead of Cyrllic characters (or a mixture of both)?

According to this site, the adoption of Roman characters began in the late 18th century, when Romanian scholars pointed out the relationship between Romanian and Latin. The process was apparently complete by 1860, when the language first underwent standardization.
