In the 1920's and 30's, a mysterious "virus" was killing both cattle and people in Trinidad. Dr. Joseph Lennox Pawan was able to identify it as rabies transmitted by bats. He tracked the source of the infection to a bat that had been bitten by a rabid dog in Brazil and had then gone on to infect others of its species.
Scoring a role in the popular television series "24" is no guarantee that you'll be working for years. This is one show that has no compunction about killing off many of its main characters.
