I've been trying to work on this without success so far. Can you at least tell me whether I've got the films right?
A Dog of the Regiment
The Mask of Fu Manchu
Her Twelve Men (or, Miss Baker's Dozen)
Abbott and Costello Go to Mars
Krakatoa East of Java

Your last three are correct. The Rin Tin Tin film and the Myrna Loy movie (one of her early roles in a dark revenge thriller) are not.

O.K., here's one problem: I checked several sites on Rin Tin Tin and the only 1927 film I could find was "Dog of the Regiment." There were others for '28 and '29.
Myrna Loy is a different matter. I'll keep looking.

Having just checked this out, Rin Tin-Tin, the dog who saved Hollywood (well Warner Brothers anyway) appeared in four films in 1927 playing Rinty.
"Dog of the Regiment", "Jaws of Steel", "Hills of Kentucky" and the one I am referring to.

Tracked By the Police and Thirteen Women?
I had never heard of the latter, but it sounds as though it might be rather interesting.
No connections yet ...

You now have the correct films. I'm sure you will get the connection now as this fact is oft repeated about one of them.

Well, the only oft-repeated fact I can think of is that Krakatoa is actually west of Java. If this involves geographical errors, I'll have to get the Maven in on it. And he's stuck in the post-World War I period at the moment.
Let me see what I can do.

Got it. The connection is title errors. "Tracked By the Police" contains no policemen. "Thirteen Women" contains 11 women. "Her Twelve Men" includes 13 men. And Abbott and Costello actually go to Venus.
It's always so satisfying to complete a major research project.

Yay Frankie and well done! I'll say wrong or misleading titles as the Abbot and Costello one is probably deliberate.
