    		I think I've got this right: Alan Moore's graphic novel "Watchmen." (Comedian, Ozymandias, Night Owl, Manhattan, Rorschach.)

    		Yay, Frankie! I think the female character called herself Nite Owl hence the "badly spelt".

    		My mistake. Nite Owl was male and Silk Spectre was the superheroine. It's been a few years since I read it.
