I find it near impossible to floss the back molars in my mouth, I have been just skipping them but I am concerned that this could cause dental problems. Any suggestions please?

    Question #57772. Asked by barker111. (Jun 16 05 12:44 PM)

    scalar

My dentist told me on my last visit that the gums around my wisdom teeth (it sounds as if you are lucky enought to still have yours, too) look better than they have in years. We both credit a nifty little device sold under the name "Plackers" made by Placontrol, Inc. What I like about them is that the handle is flexible enough to bend at a right angle to reach all the way back. Even more important is that the floss is made from "the same fiber used to make bulletproof vests." I assume this is Kevlar and it is TOUGH; whether or not it is good hygiene, they will last through several flossings without breaking or even shredding. I do not own stock in this company. I think they are fairly widely available; I bought a bunch on line and give the packets as gifts to friends and family.

My new dentist thinks that I am a nice, compliant patient, because I floss every day, but when I asked him whether he knew anything about the history of dental floss, he didn't have a clue. So, let's come up with information I can give him: who invented dental floss, and when did dentists start to recommend flossing?
