What is the standard tuning on a bass guitar?

    Question #57794. Asked by fat_blob. (Jun 18 05 3:40 AM)

    TabbyTom

According to the New Grove Dictionary of Music, the tuning is the same as for a double-bass, i.e. (in fourths, in ascending order) E, A, D, G. The lowest note of the E string is two octaves below the E in the bass clef.
