Why are there not cat foods available that are 'mouse flavoured'?

    Question #57897. Asked by barker111.

    Brinjal

You can be first to eat the mouse to determine what flavour it is.

I'm not interested in eating cat food Brinjal, I'm just wondering why its not on the market for the cat owner who truely wants to pamper their cat?

For the same reason "they" don't make cat flavoured dog food.

Are you trying to suggest that cats are a dog's natural food?

I remember hearing various flavours have been tried, including pork and mouse, and basically the cats didn't like it. The flavours we have are ones they do like plus aren't too hard to make (as many are flavoured with additives rather than actually containing what they say on the tin anyway, and are made from a mixture of different items.) This was on the radio recently so all these points were addressed.

Cats will kill, play with and occasionally eat mice but they are rarely a cat's primary choice of meat. Nor, more importanntly, is it the flavout that most owners wish to buy for their cats.

I've had two long-lived cats, and while they both got a kick out of toying with whatever rodents and baby birds they could get their claws on if I mistakenly let them out of the house, they didn't eat them once they were dead. With one, I had trouble getting her to eat commercial cat food at all -- she liked shredded chicken, fish, and lightly sauteed hamburger meat -- and our vet finally prescribed vitamins to be added to her meals.
