The place is known as the Western Wall (or the Wailing Wall). It is actually not a wall from Solomon's Temple, but from the second one, built by Ezra and the people who returned with him after the Babylonian exile, and renovated by Herod the Great. The wall itself is about half of the original wall of the courtyard of the Temple. The southern wall has also been discovered and is now in danger of collapsing.
