Just been listening to this on the radio. It's the album "War of the Worlds" by Jeff Wayne which has been re-released to coincide with the new Spielberg film.

Yay Maggie. This was one of the best albums of its time. I've just bought the remastered CD after having to consign my original vinyl copy to the retirement file.
