How long was Douglas Wood held captive in Irag?

    Question #58040. Asked by paulfrank_008.

    McGruff

Douglas Wood was rescued June 15, 2005 by Iraqi soldiers on a security sweep in northwestern Baghdad.

Wood, 63, said he was treated "pretty fair" during his 47 days in captivity, but noted that he had been kicked in the head at one point and had been fed a lot of bread and water. He said at one point he was moved to the location where he was discovered Wednesday and that he had been there for 35 days.

Wood, a civilian contractor who had been working in Iraq, was kidnapped on April 30.

Mr. Wood's capture first came to light on May 1 when insurgents released a video showing him pleading for his life and asking Australian and US troops to leave Iraq.

Mr. Wood, a 63-year-old Australian married to an American woman and living in the US, had been held hostage in Iraq for more than six weeks.

Need some help here from Douglas Adams fans...I am almost certain this is a quote from a Douglas Adams book. I am pretty sure it starts a chapter, and goes,"And it rained a [something silly,] and it rained a [something else silly] and it rained [some silly things.] I thought it would be in "So Long And Thanks for All The Fish," since it has a rain theme, but I'm not seeing it there. Help!
