Assuming that you're talking about the Goths who gave the Romans so much trouble, there is a (disputed) theory that they originated in Scandinavia and migrated into northern Poland and then further southeast. Eventually, they split into two groups, the Ostrogoths (eastern tribe) and the Visigoths (western tribe), which settled in different areas.
