    Why does a candle smell like it's burning after you blow it out?

    could it be that smell travels slower than light so when the flame goes out then you smell it


    OR


    all of the oxygen is not stopped by the flame any longer and the chemicals from the ash and the fire residue mixed with oxygen makes the smell

    When you blow air away from the base of a candle air rushes inwards to replace it pulling smoke with it. This causes a rush of smoke towards you so increasing the smell.

    A similar thing happens if you are a non-smoker and you try the waft away the fumes from a nearby smoker. Smoke then breezes in your direction to replace the smoke you have wafted making the situation worse.
