Why were Dastardly and Muttley so keen to stop the pigeon and which other characters were in that cartoon?

Question #58422. Asked by gmackematix. (Jul 19 05 6:26 PM)

Well, this is absolutely fascinating, gmack. I loved "The Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines" as a child, but I had no idea that any cartoon series were based on it.

Yankee Doodle Pigeon? That raises interesting geopolitical issues ...

Yay Frankie for finding Zilly and Klunk. I suppose Dastardly does mention it was his job in the theme song. Theirs not to reason why I suppose.

There was a TV show for kids, I think it was made in the 80s. It wasn't a cartoon. The show had animal characters but they were real actors dressed up in costumes. The only characters I can remember are a cockatiel and some type of cat. Does anyone have any idea what the show could be?
