    Is there any unusual facts about the star Sirius?

    I was wondering if someone knew the name and any information on a bright star I keep seeing in the Southern part of the sky? I have noticed as the Summer is progressing, the times have changed when I can see this star in the sky. I'm not sure if its a part of a constellation or not.
