Who can define the North American term "crossing ancestor"?

    rlaj

I would say it refers to the ancestor who crossed the ocean from the old world to the new world.

And you are correct, rlaj. Your "crossing ancestor" was the first of your ancestors to arrive in the Americas.

I'm afraid I don't know what equivalent term the Latin Americans use, but there must be one.
