Glycerius is a possible candidate. He reigned from 473-474 CE and became a Christian bishop after being pressured in abdicating by the eastern emperor, Leo I.

Well, the emperor Tiberius effectively retired from public life in 26AD and took up gardening on the isle of Capri until his death in 37AD. This was largely thanks to the paranoia instilled in him by the scheming Sejanus who effectively ruled for the rest of Tiberius's reign.

Well, your site does say he is "the only emperor ever to retire" and in the same paragraph says his co-emperor Maximian retired with him on the same day.
