Explaining the link in each case what connects a book of the Bible, a place in church for the loudest at prayer, three old elements, a steamroller, a fire engine, a misspelt gym teacher, a John Wayne film and a friend's cat?

I've got some -they're all groups. The book of the Bible is presumably 'Genesis', three old elements is (are?) 'Earth Wind and Fire', the steamroller is 'Buffalo Springfield', the mis-spelt gym teacher is the person responsible for having the group expelled from school 'Lynyrd Skynyrd', a John Wayne fim is 'The Searchers' and a friend's cat is (allegedly) 'Procul Harum'.

REo Speedwagon was named after a fire engine

I've just had a thought about the church one -could it be 'Amen Corner'?

Amen to that Maggie (and SM)! They were indeed all inspirations for the names of pop groups formed in the 1960s. I suppose I could have added a Willard Manus novel and a paper match split to hold a reefer.
