What connects: the legendary burial place of an ancient hero; a beloved medieval religious figure; a versatile artist and architect connected with the experimental designs of a much more famous figure; and a great painter who worked for a very extravagant pope?

Would it be the Sistine Chapel?

Hmmmmm, if it's not the Sistine, I'll have a stab at the Basilica of San Sebastiano, with the works of Bernini and Giorgetti. (statue of St Sebastiano with the arrows..)

Sorry, peasy and Ilona. Try moving farther afield. It's not a single building.

Possibly over 2,000 years old (though it's been argued that it might be of Renaissance vintage), this elegant item is said to have been found in an emperor's tomb. First mentioned in a letter to a great Flemish painter, it belonged to the early patron of a pugnacious Italian artist, then to the family of an extravagant Pope, and was made famous by a well-known potter. At one point, it ended up in quite a few pieces. What is it, and in the work of what sci fi writer is it mentioned?

Which legendary medieval figure, whose story is based on facts and fiction, has been told about in literature, poetry, songs, movies and TV?

Though he was a genuine military figure who rose to great prominence for five years in the land in which he was serving, and then tried unsuccessfully to conquer an empire, in the legends of his adopted people he became a king through marriage and was the nephew of the royal subject of a beloved nursery rhyme. In Wales, he is known by one name; elsewhere by another. Who was he, and who was his supposed uncle?
