# A chick and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half. How long does it take for it to lay a dozen?

Question #58831. Asked by a1hotgirl. (Aug 15 05 7:49 PM)

I doubt that half a chick ever laid anything but glossing over that absurdity:
1 1/2 chicks lay 1 1/2 eggs in 1 1/2 days or one egg in one day.
So 1 chick lays 2/3 eggs in a day.
So one chick (if that's what you mean by "it") lays 12 eggs in 12 divided by 2/3 days
= 18 days.

Me thinks this might just be a maths puzzle not trivia and belongs in the Brain Teasers chatboard (click on menu under "Jump to Board" on left of this page).

Half the distance between any point A and point B can be cut in half, and then this can be cut in half, and we can continue to cut these distances in half to an infinite amount. So then why is it not impossible to travel from point A to point B?
