I doubt that half a chick ever laid anything but glossing over that absurdity:
1 1/2 chicks lay 1 1/2 eggs in 1 1/2 days or one egg in one day.
So 1 chick lays 2/3 eggs in a day.
So one chick (if that's what you mean by "it") lays 12 eggs in 12 divided by 2/3 days
= 18 days.
Me thinks this might just be a maths puzzle not trivia and belongs in the Brain Teasers chatboard (click on menu under "Jump to Board" on left of this page).
