Well, Nelson was hit by musket fire from a sharpshooter on the Redoutable. Villeneuve, as it turns out, committed suicide back in France, apparently unable to live with his humiliation:

As a little aside to this, there is a story going around that may or may not be true.I hope it is.
A group of tourists were being given a guided tour of HMS Victory by a naval rating.When they got down to the gun deck a French lady asked if the cannon balls stacked near the guns were the ones used at Trafalgar. The guide replied, 'No madam, your Navy has still got those.'

At the battle of Trafalgar,Admiral Nelson refused to remove the stars of knighthood from his uniform because he did not want to set a bad example. This made him a target for French snipers.
