The third film (first in the series of books) is called "Red Dragon." Anthony Hopkins starred in it, but not Jodie Foster. The first film based on "Red Dragon" was Michael Mann's "Manhunter" (1986), in which neither Foster nor Hopkins appeared. Hannibal Lecter was played by Brian Cox. I loved Manhunter (1986), which was originally titled "Red Dragon" but the name was changed due to the release of "The Year of the Dragon." The FBI agent was played by William Peterson or "Gil Grissom" of "CSI" fame. Hannibal Lecktor, which was the way it was spelled at the time, was played by Brian Cox. The only actor to appear in all four versions was Frankie Faison, Lt. Fisk in "Manhunter." He appears as Barney in Silence of the Lambs (1991), Hannibal (2001) and Red Dragon (2002).
