Would I be right to say that Joseph Stalin was a dictator? Can anyone give me a link about his government?

I'm not sure about links, but yes, you'd be right in saying that Joseph Stalin was a dictator. In fact, he is probably to blame for the deaths of more people in history than any other person, including Hitler.

This link is useful as a starting-point, anyway. He's generally ackowledged as one of those people whose period of office as a dictator marred the 20th century on a massive scale, along with Hitler and Mao. (He's often bracketed together with them as one of leading political murderers of that century and in fact of all time).

It would, I feel, be a mistake to let his odious dictatorship detract from the extremely important role played by Soviet armed forces in 1941-45 in inflicting defeat on Nazi Germany.
I hope this is of some use.
