Explaining the link in each case, whose name connects a star, a famous African adventure, a metaphorical cornerstone of Freemasonry, a ring for interspecial communication, a very difficult 1980s computer game and Vine's book about the Tube?

Question #59528. Asked by gmackematix. (Sep 22 05 4:56 PM)

I think the connection must be King Solomon.

King Solomon’s star is a pentangle.

King Solomon’s Mines is an adventure novel by Rider Haggard, set in Africa and featuring his hero Allan Quatermain.

Freemasons traditionally reckon that their craft originated among the masons who built King Solomon’s temple.

King Solomon’s ring is a legendary device which is supposed to have given Solomon the power to communicate with animals.

Barbara Vine’s novel about the London Underground is “King Solomon’s Carpet”

I’m not sure about the computer game, but there is apparently one called “King Solomon’s Mines” which was designed for the Commodore 64.

Multiple yays for that TT! The star I had in mind was the Shield or Star of David which is also sometimes called King Solomon's Seal.

I said metaphorical as Freemasons often compare the building of life to the construction of the temple.

There was a very hard to solve computer puzzle game called King Solomon's Key.

As a very minor point... a "pentacle" is a five-pointed star...

Solomon's star, more commonly known as the Star of David is a six-pointed star... a "hexagram" in other words.
