Can you find information about the computer owner by the IP address you have?

If a person is doing something illegal such as sending pornography to people or generally causing trouble they can be reported to the ISP or even to the police or other organisation (perhaps FBI in the US) - they will be able to trace the person concerned by using the IP address. So the straight answer to your question is yes, it is possible to get information about the computer owner from the IP address, just not a lot by the non-professional. Sep 25 05, 9:01 AM
