The word erosion is used of glaciers and the masses of ice and rock they deposit are known as moraine (terminal, lateral or medial).
Ablation is used to mean glacial shrinkage due to evaporation and melting.
The area of a glacier where it is losing mass is called the wastage zone as opposed to the accumulation zone.
If a glacier starts wholesale melting, this is known as deglaciation.
