    I believe this was Woodrow Wilson, who attended the Paris Peace Conference in 1919:

    Yes, US presidents served for 129 years before Woodrow Wilson became the first to visit Europe.
    He must have liked it as he controversially stayed for six months.

    It was just as well the US became used to his absence, as later in 1919, he was nearly incapacitated by a stroke and his wife effectively governed until Harding became president in 1921.

    A: She fell out of bed.
