There is no such thing as "normal".

What is considered "normal" for some parts of England, may be considered weird or peculiar elsewhere. At least that's what an English slang term suggests."Normal for _________ ", but weird and peculiar elsewhere. Label possibly first used by hospital doctors and/or social workers.

You mean the medical notation NFN, I think. Used to signify "Normal For Norfolk" (meaning anything but normal, of course). A bit cruel, though my friends who live in Great Yarmouth think it's funny.

In 1987, when I was living in Rome and news of a particularly gruesome set of murders reached Italy, one of my colleagues and I turned to each other and remarked simultaneously, "Just another normal day in Philadelphia."

Yes indeed. A yay for Stew54. ( As to Philadelphia: what a blow for my belief that it was a City of Brotherhood and Love.)
