    While doing "A Midsummer Night's Dream" we realised that the received wisdom about the sour-faced Crab being the only dog to appear in Shakespeare isn't entirely accurate.
    In Act V sc i 247-9 Starveling the tailor, playing Moonshine, explains to the court that "this dog" is "my dog". It isn't named but it clearly appears.
